Red Branch Technologies, Inc. -- (RBTI.PK)

Red Branch Technologies is focused on connecting emerging companies in the "green technology" or point-of-need sustainable energy market and the point-of-need physical site security markets with the critical resources they need to achieve commercial success such as capital, leadership and access to markets.

What makes Red Branch Technologies unique, according to CEO Jeff Sirianni, is its reactor model which is much different than the business model traditionally used for growing incubator-types or start-up companies. Red Branch's reactor model seeks to establish relationships among companies and partners within the reactor that accelerate and build reliable revenue growth. Powered by access to markets and combinations of product offerings within the reactor, RBTI succeeds from equity appreciation of the companies they power and by revenue derived from strategic relationships and major sales opportunities which they establish.

Sirianni said, "For example, if a company that meets our criteria for consideration needs assistance with capital structure, funding and integration services for an immediate revenue opportunity, then we would evaluate these needs for compatibility within the reactor companies' capacity, capability, application focus and market fit. If approved, RBTI then creates the alliances, equity and funding arrangements and moves into a market making capacity."

In addition, Red Branch is offering solutions to assist in successfully commercializing products in three high growth areas which include mobile site security, ordinance disposal and inspection, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The mobile site security solution has a wide range of applications which require mobility and extended deployment for events such as disaster recovery, border, pipeline and perimeter security, event security and many others. Ordinance disposal and inspection involves several robotic solutions for security applications that can range from under-vehicle standoff inspection to ordinance disposal to "hot site" emergency response.

UAVs offer the most complex and highly configurable security solution where surveillance is crucial.

Mobile site security and sustainable power solutions

RBTI provides sustainable-energy-powered solutions meeting commercial, industrial, municipal and federal requirements for site security, materials control, emergency communications, water purification and similar on-site applications. The company's ability to simultaneously manage multiple renewable energy sources allows RBTI powered solutions to stay up and running longer than the competition. Mobility is another differentiating aspect of RBTI solutions.

The company also offers a unique set of security products for military and law enforcement applications where cost/performance represents a critical selection factor. The application areas include Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) robots, vehicular inspection and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

Why invest in RBTI?

The renewable energy market is set to be one of the most critical and high growth markets of the 21st Century, driven by compelling strategic forces that will reshape society's energy usage forever.
Renewable energy resources are naturally replenished in a relatively short period of time. They include biomass, hydropower, geothermal energy, wind energy, and solar energy. In 2005, about 6% of all energy consumed, and about 9% of total electricity production was from renewable energy sources. Building on a foundation of hydropower, biomass combustion, and geothermal power pioneered during the industrial revolution in the late 1800s, new forms of renewable energy began to be developed and commercialized, including solar, wind, and several forms of advanced bio-energy. Today, these renewable energy technologies are the fastest growing energy technologies and are cost competitive in a variety of grid, off-grid, and remote applications worldwide. They utilize locally available resources, off setting the need for costly fuel imports; are environmentally beneficial, without the harmful emissions of conventional energies; provide diversification to a country's energy mix; and create local job and income opportunities.

Venture capital investment in green technology worldwide jumped 43 percent in three months to USD1.2 billion in 85 deals in the second quarter. This signals a quiet recovery in the sector, according to a report from GTM Research. Investment in the first quarter was USD$ 836 million, but the promise of U.S. federal stimulus money along with increased optimism helped change that, the report said, writes Reuters."Despite the economic slump, VC investors remain optimistic about the Renewable Energy sector and eventual exits in this space," said Eric Wesoff, senior analyst at GTM Research and author of the Greentech Innovations Report. "Exits" are jargon for either selling a business to a bigger company, or an initial public offering of stock.

Key Industry Facts:

  • The global renewable energy market grew by 20.4% in 2008 to reach a value of $310.5 billion
  • In 2013, the global renewable energy market is forecast to have a value of $511.3 billion, an increase of 64.7% since 2008
  • In 2013, the global renewable energy market is forecast to have a volume of 3,642.2 billion kilowatt hours, an increase of 22.6% since 2008
  • The Americas generate 43.1% of the global renewable energy market's value

Worldwide homeland security spending through 2015

Net requested appropriations for major agencies within DHS were as follows: Customs and Border Protection (CBP), $10,049 million; Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), $5,458 million; Transportation Security Administration (TSA), $5,267 million; Coast Guard, $9,734 million; Secret Service, $1,490 million; National Protection & Programs Directorate, $1,319 million; Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), $7,235 million; Science and Technology, $968 million; and the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office, $366 million.

Reactor Model

Most incubators take a vertically restrictive view of the companies and the products they take to market. RBTI takes a loosely-coupled view of the relationships and opportunities that can power emergent companies.
More important than capital resources, RBTI seeks to establish relationships among companies and partners within the reactor that accelerate and build reliable revenue growth. Powered by access to markets and combinationsof product offerings within the reactor, RBTI succeeds from equity appreciation of the companies we power and by revenue derived from strategic relationships and major sales opportunities we establish.
In the case above, a company meeting the market focus criteria, needs assistance with capital structure, funding and integration services and immediate revenue opportunity. RBTI would evaluate these needs for compatibility within the reactor companies' capacity, capability, application focus and market fit. RBTI then creates the alliances, equity and funding arrangements and moves into market making.
